Description

For sale is a vintage, hand painted papier-mâché bust of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from the 1980s. This is a rare, unusual, and finely-made craft item. The statue measures roughly 10.25" tall and 5.75" wide at its widest point (the shoulders). The diameter of the base measures 4.5", and the total weight of the item is 1lb and 2 7/8 ounces. The piece has some wear and pieces missing, visible in the photos. There are some fairly large chips missing from the top and bottom of the pedestal. Overall, the paint is very bright and clean. However, some of the darker parts of the statue, especially the hair, feature some paint deterioration and discoloration. See the above photos (particularly the last four) for more details.
